  • Perform skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wastewater collection system
  • Operate cleaning equipment, including vacuum trailers and jet trailers
  • Video wastewater mains and laterals, conducts leak detection and sewer dye testing
  • Locates and mark main and lateral sewer lines
  • Repair points on gravity lines and force mains, install pipe, install clean outs
  • Install, repair, clean and raise manholes
  • Perform confined space entries, monitor toxic gases in manholes and vaults using gas detectors
  • Assist in updating the sewer maps through GIS
  • Responds to wastewater customer complaints, and emergency after hour call outs
  • Oversee and assist with miscellaneous projects as directed, such as maintaining easements, pump station sites, cleaning sludge lagoons, and various grading projects as necessary
  • Ensures securing and partitioning off work areas with traffic signs, cones, and/or barricades; flags and directs traffic around work areas as necessary
  • Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with departmental rules and regulations
  • Gathers information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility
  • Attends staff and safety meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes or seminars to improve technical or professional skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have valid GA driver’s license
  • A commercial driver’s license is desirable
  • One year experience in sewer construction and/or maintenance
  • Strong detail-oriented work style
